Observational study

Where does the shift go?

We spent 30 hours observing nurses minute-by-minute at a surgical ward. Only 51% of the shift goes to directly value-adding work. The rest is logistics, coordination, and waste.

Our study identified 8.2% of the shift — 37 minutes — that can be directly eliminated with better communication. We documented exactly how.

Tasks caused by information gaps and outdated communication — walking blind to rooms, searching for numbers, asking who called. Pling eliminates them.
